Eryri Gymnastics Club formed in 1990 as a natural progression from the leisure centre classes held at Canolfan Hamdden Arfon. Three of the centre's coaches felt that there was a need for gymnasts who had reached the highest level of the existing BAGA award scheme to progress even further. With the help and support of Gwynedd Council they hired Bangor gym with initially about 10 gymnasts.
The pilot was a huge success and the club officially laid down its roots and registered with Welsh Gymnastics as a private club. Since then we have acquired tens of thousands of pounds worth of extra apparatus, invested heavily in coach education and expanded our membership to cater for a wider range of ages and skill levels.
Over the intervening years we have enjoyed success at local, county and national levels and have worked closely with British and Welsh Gymnastics, the Sports Council, Gwynedd Council, the North area committee and Cynnal to ensure that we can provide the maximum level of support for our gymnasts and coaches.
